A Conscious Journey with Scott Martineau

The words One and Conscious are synonymous with tonight’s guest, Scott Martineau, creator of ConsciousOne.com. Before the call even “officially” got underway, Scott delivered some very powerful and juicy statements.

The biggest growth will come from you grieving the loss of who you “thought” you were.

You can judge something that isn’t good for you without being full of judgment. You need discernment to know what’s right AND wrong for you.

Turning off basic human emotions (like anger, sadness, etc.) will only leave you missing out on some of lives most valuable lessons.

WOW!

I asked Scott what led him to write his new book, The Power of You. He shared that while developing courses and reading the books of some of the world leaders in new thought/personal growth, he noticed that one very important component seemed to always be missing. Although, the materials were very good, not many of them addressed the importance of knowing one’s core values. He felt this really needed to be discussed at greater length.

The book shares the world of ConsciousOne as well as his adventure in the personal growth arena. It also addresses how someone can apply spirituality to create a conscious business.

Right off the bat, we got a question from the webcast, and it was a question that I get a lot. Jane asked, “Why is it that you charge such money for sharing your thoughts? Packages like Deluxe pack, etc makes one feel this is all being done for money & there is no real positivity flowing from your end.” Scott’s response was eloquent… “Money is one of the great flows that’s going on in the world; it’s called “currency”. Trying to argue against that is like trying to argue with the tide.” He also said that once you become overly-concerned with the concept of charging, you lose out on the valuable content being shared.

We then talked a bit about the Abundance and Scarcity Lens. When you believe that there’s more than enough for everyone, your vibration is higher and your thoughts remain focused on abundance. When you believe that there’s isn’t enough to go around, your vibrations are lower, and your thoughts remain focused on scarcity.

Scott then talked about the 5 Components of Core Values (anchors that endure the fast-paced changes of our environments).

  • Integrate (essential, enduring tests of a person’s belief system)
  • Constant (values that have endured throughout your life)
  • Core Belief (something you hold true without evidence or fact)
  • Behavior/Action (core value is what you DO, not what you say. What’s guiding your life?

You’ll be in a quiet, confident calm when you go about your day coming from your core values.

I asked Scott what he believed the difference was between a value and a goal.

He said, core values are how you get there, and goals are what you do to get there. Core values are constant whereas goals are changeable.

Another listener, Fay, wanted to know how do you arrive at the words to fill in your core values? Scott suggested we write about what we love for about 20 minutes… I’ve always known that I love… on 3×5 sticky notes. He said that we may feel kind of awkward the first 3-5 minutes, but after a while, we’ll notice a shift in what we love. In the end, we’ll be able to pull out the ones that stuck out the most. We’ll quickly be able to identify what means the most to us. And we may even discover new life purposes that we lost along the way! He also suggested that when doing this little exercise, we come from the place of our inner child.

Scott developed his 16 Core Principles by consolidating the core values of people he had worked with and coached that he thought took care of most of the human experience. We’d already talked a little about two of them, Dedication to Life’s Purpose and Personal Growth, and since we didn’t have time to talk about all 16, Scott gave us one more, Self-Disclosure. He said in order to lead by example, you have to have self-awareness, and self-disclosure means you’re continuously revealing who you are to yourself and to others. You actually attract more and more people into your life who have wanted to reveal themselves in the same way. Self-disclosure also requires being authentic and being comfortable with who you are.

Humans crave intimacy, and the best way to be intimate is to self-disclose.

Next, we talked about the Conscious Triangle in action. The triangle helps you learn what your own primary mode of operating which helps you identify and strengthen your relationships with others. It also helps you identify how you interact with the world and how it interacts with you. You’ll be a better communicator because you’ll be changing your language to suit the other person’s primary mode.
